SALSA CON JAZZ HEADLINES twoFIVE JAZZ TALK
AT CROSSROADS THEATRE

Denver, CO, May 13, 2011 / jazz89 KUVO is proud to announce Salsa Con Jazz is headlining the twoFIVE Jazz Talk at 7:00pm at the Crossroads Theatre on Friday, May 20, 2011. twoFIVE Jazz Talk is a performance/talk series hosted by Dr. Walter Barr, that allows listeners an intimate experience with the music, engaging and educating music lovers of all ages.
This edition of twoFIVE Jazz Talk kicks off the 8th Annual Five Points Jazz Festival along Welton Street in the historic Five Points neighborhood of Denver, on Saturday, May 21.
The Salsa Con Jazz performance includes an opportunity for audience members to interact in a lively question and answer session with musicians. The evening is being recorded for later broadcast.
Salsa Con Jazz is a new 10-piece band, named after Jimmy Trujillo's popular KUVO radio show. They play Salsa and Latin Jazz, combining the improvisation of Jazz with the infectious grooves of the Mambo, Cha Cha Cha and more. Bring your dancing shoes!
Salsa Con Jazz is comprised of Jimmy Trujillo on bass, Justin Adams on piano, Gary Sosias on timbales and vocals, José Espino on bongos, bata, and percussion, Mark Márquez on congas, Walter Barr on trumpet, Wade Sander on trombone, Jeremy Wendelin on saxes and flute, Bernard Alvarado on lead vocals, and Tomás Ornelas on vocals. For this performance only, former musical director and arranger for the legendary Tito Puente Orchestra, José Madera joins the band as special guest on timbales.
Tickets for the show are available at the twoFIVE Jazz Talk website. Tickets are $10; $7 for students and seniors. The Crossroads Theatre features a cash bar; adult tickets include a free glass of wine, courtesy of Balistreri Vineyards. Doors open at 7pm; show starts at 7:30 and is appropriate for all ages.

The 8th Annual Five Points Jazz Festival is a free event, held on Saturday, May 21 in Five Points and is a presentation of Arts and Venues Denver, of the City and County of Denver. Food and art with vendors along Welton Street, restaurants, and businesses all contribute to the festival. A tribute this year honors jazz greats Fred Fuller, Ed Dwight and Wende Harston, and includes a special tribute to Denver City Council Member Carla Madison, who recently passed away. The music line-up is available on the Arts and Venues Denver website.
