Gabriel was born into a family of musicians with roots in Detroit and New Orleans. She came to Denver several years after college. Like many others, Denver was a stop on the way to somewhere else for Gabriel, but she’s been here for over 30 years!

Gabriel has been a volunteer at KUVO since 1990. She spent several years working in the membership department.

She was convinced by other on-air hosts to try being an on-air host. Her first shift was Saturday morning, 2 to 5 am. Her listeners were bakers and cab drivers. She is now on Saturday afternoons. Gabriel is partial to jazz standards, swing, bebop, and straight-ahead jazz tunes.

“Sarah Vaughan Time” is featured every week, a feature that came about as a result of a listener who called weekly to ask, “Is it Sarah Vaughan time yet?” It is and will be, as long as Gabriel is on the air at KUVO!

Tune in to Jazz with Gabriel on Saturday afternoons, noon to 2 pm.
