City Park Jazz: La Pompe Jazz & Friends | July 8

Jun 28, 2018

La Pompe Jazz is a Denver band est. 2013. Inspired by a love of classic "Hot Club" style jazz, they are a group of musicians from Denver sharing an exploration of Gypsy jazz, blues, and American jazz standards with their own interpretations. They have become a fixture of the local swing dance scene with regular performances at many of the top dance nights. La Pompe Jazz has also brought their music to a wide range of audiences in their performances at the Five Points Jazz Festival, the 1940s Ball, Swallow Hill, the Underground Music Showcase, and the Westword Music Showcase - where they were honored to receive the Producer's Choice Award.

La Pompe Jazz will be sharing the stage with the supremely talented drummer Jill Frederickson. A staple of the jazz swing scene, Jill Frederickson's reputation as one of the best drummers on the front range is well earned. LPJ will also be performing with clarinetist and vocalist Niki Tredinnick. Band leader for local bands Dollhouse Thieves and Mile High Brass Band, Niki's unique playing and singing style is a perfect compliment to La Pompe Jazz's Gypsy sound.

City Park Jazz produces 10 free jazz concerts each summer in the crown jewel of Denver’s Parks, City Park. Jazz, blues, and salsa, the predominant forms of music presented at our concerts, have broad appeal with our uniquely diverse, urban fans.
