KUVO welcomes Lenore Raphael to the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Wednesday, May 16 – 11:30am to noon. Jazz pianist Steinway artist, jazz teacher and radio host Lenore Raphael has toured the world playing many renowned jazz venues and venues such as Jazz At Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, Ronnie Scott’s, Birdland and festivals such as The London Jazz Festival, Tel Aviv Jazz Festival, Joy of Jazz in South Africa and many more.  She also writes music and has won ASCAP awards for her original compositions, Jazz writer Scott Yanow has said of her “Raphael is simply one of the best pianists in the jazz mainstream today…she always swings and never runs out of fresh ideas”.

Lenore’s new recording REUNION featuring guitarist doug MacDonald,its an homage to the duo of Oscar Peterson and Herb Ellis.  Its brings together a wonderful group of musicians…each of which has played with someone in the group but this is the first outing for the quartet…and it SWINGS with Lenore on piano, Doug MacDonald, a great veteran guitarist, Hilliard Greene, one of Lenore’s favorite bassists and drummer Dwayne Cook Broadnax who she has worked with in NYC.
