KUVO Celebrates Aretha

KUVO is lining up several specials to celebrate the musical legacy of “The Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin.  She died at age 76 this morning at home in Detroit, according to the Detroit Free Press.

 

KUVO hosts will be drawing from her jazz, soul, blues, and gospel collections throughout the day, and a few shows through the weekend will explore the Aretha Franklin catalog.

Andy O’ has been named the new weekday afternoon host on KUVO Jazz.  Andy O’ will be hosting from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. weekday afternoons.

Andy O' has a long history at KUVO Jazz, beginning as a volunteer host in 1989.  He was music director at KUVO in the mid-1990s into the early-2000s.  O’Leary, a published poet, continued on the air as the longtime host of KUVO’s Sunday night jazz and poetry program “The Nightside with Andy O’,” heard Sunday evenings 8:00 p.m. to midnight.  Andy O’ is also a bassist, and founded the Denver-based band Coyote Poets of the Universe.
