Denver artist Madeleine Dodge was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma and moved to Denver, in 1959. After graduating with her BFA from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1968, she lived in New York City for three years painting and teaching until returning to Denver in 1973 to practice as a strong presence in the Denver artistic community. Her work is included in many collections, both private and public, in the United States and abroad and is currently associated with SparkGallery in Denver, Colorado.

CounterCurrent featuring one of KUVO's "30 Under 30" rising jazz musicians, Rico Jones, will perform in the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Friday, July 20 from 7 to 8pm. Lead by Rico Jones the band will perform all original music inspired by funk, Fusion, Hip-hop, and Jazz styles. CounterCurrent drives toward the cutting edge of new sounds while melding and blending genres into something truly compelling.

July keeps rolling along with festivals in Longmont and Winter Park, along with sounds in Crested Butte. The 36th edition of the Winter Park Jazz Festival in Hideaway Park on Saturday and Sunday is a crossover event with artists such as Sheila E, saxophonists Boney James and Eric Darius and guitarist Norman Brown. The festivities begin both days at 11 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. (crestedbuttemusicfestival.org).

Rico Jones Western Trio will perform all original compositions in a contemporary vein with jazz standards ornamenting the sets. The band comprised of musicians all attending world renowned institutions for music studies at Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music and, San Francisco Conservatory.
