Eats & Beats:
Breakfast Burrito Bracket Champion
Eats & Beats: Breakfast Burrito Bracket Champion!
By Steve Chavis
Here, against the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, we greet the sun most days with a determination to do whatever it takes. To plant, to build, to fix, to create. We roll up our sleeves and get it done. And to fuel all of this innovation and on-the-go hard work, we depend on morning food tucked inside a tortilla. Here in Denver, we depend on the Breakfast Burrito.
Based on our contention that Denver is the capitol of the Breakfast Burrito, we thought it was time to find out where the best breakfast burrito is served.
Back in the first week of March, KUVO JAZZ Morning Set listeners and KUVO friends and followers on line nominated their favorite breakfast burrito spots, and they’re all winners, right?! Voters nominated the runner up, Santiagos, as well as Bonfire Burritos based in Golden, Chulada’s at Federal and 40th, 20th St. Café, The Original Chubby’s, Butcher Block at 38th and Brighton Boulevard in RiNo, and El Taco de Mexico on Santa Fe.
The week-to-week bracket competition was tasty and tough, but our champions survived each week solely based on the opinions of KUVO Morning Set listeners. We are pleased to announce the winner of the KUVO JAZZ Morning Set Eats & Beats Breakfast Burrito Bracket is Gomez Burritos!
Gomez Burritos has been serving hungry Denverites for 26 years, and now they have four locations around the metro:
• Here at Park Avenue and Globeville Road, right off I-25,
• Also at 55th and Washington, East 78th and Washington in Thornton, and in Commerce City at East 120th Place and Chambers.
Congratulations to Gomez Burritos, Champions of the 2026 KUVO JAZZ – Morning Set – Eats & Beats Breakfast Burrito Bracket!!
It’s down to four! And you can taste the excitement as these icons of Denver-area burrito-dom face off in the first-ever Eats and Beats Breakfast Burrito Bracket! In this next-to-last round, the Santiago’s brand meets The Original Chubby’s on 38th. The “upstart” game pits Golden’s Bonfire Burritos against Gomez Burritos on Park Avenue just west of downtown.
You’d better get those steps in to make room for the beloved morning wraps from these four legendary outlets. And be sure to vote! The 4-burrito ballot is open through Sunday, March 22, and then it’s on to the championship round!
