Thank you to those who supported KUVO JAZZ on Colorado Gives Day!
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
Mark Diamond’s deep, grooving acoustic bass sound has its roots in the New York area, where he mastered an array of musical styles. In 1980, he moved to Colorado with the band Arabesque and quickly became a sought-after sideman, contributing to over 100 albums, including those of Grammy-winner Tim O’Brien, Mollie O’Brien, Sally Taylor, James Van Buren with Richie Cole, Keith Oxman, Mary Flower, and Mary Ann Moore.
Boulder-born, Denver-based multi-instrumentalist composer Sonya Walker began her relationship with the piano when she was 5.
Originally classically trained, she discovered her love of Black American improvised music by teaching herself trumpet, and eventually transitioned to exploring that tradition on the piano.
