Thank you to those who supported KUVO JAZZ on Colorado Gives Day!
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
Harry Drabkin is a jazz saxophonist, as well as graduate and former faculty member of the Berklee College of Music. However, he subsequently became an endowed Professor of Medicine at CU and Chief of Hematology-Oncology at MUSC. After a substantial hiatus from music, he was urged by his son, singer-songwriter Rob Drabkin, to dust off his horns and get back to music. He’s performed at the main jazz venues in the Denver / Boulder area, as well as KUVO and the Five-Points Jazz Festival, often with pianist Eric Gunnison, another Berklee alumnus. His two CDs, “After The Rain” and “Reincarnation of a Lovebird”, can be heard on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services. “Reincarnation” was recently promoted at numerous jazz radio stations around the US with excellent reviews. The MUSE performance will include the gentler side of Coltrane and other icons from the ‘50s and ‘60s, often called the golden age of jazz, plus selections from the latest CD.
