JAZZ SUPPER CLUB SERIES | Kat Ellis Ensemble

The Kat Ellis Ensemble will perform an evening of summer jazz as we say goodbye to the month of May. This show will delight you with an evening of inspired takes on the evocative theme of “summer”.

Ms. Ellis is a fine jazz singer who is equally at home with a trio or a full jazz orchestra and performs extensively in Colorado with the crème de la crème of Colorado’s finest jazz musicians. Accompanying her at the Full Cycle Café & Bar are the esteemed Eric Gunnison-Keys, Harold Summey-Drums, Brad Goode-Trumpet, and Mark Simon-Bass.

Her gift of expression and storytelling using her emotive voice lets her cover tunes ranging from reflective to torchy, witty to sorrowful. She is the featured vocalist with the Denver Jazz Orchestra and leads a quintet and quartet. Kat is also a sought-after freelance vocalist with several bands along the Front Range.

Her quintet includes the crème de la crème first call players and professors of jazz. They each have extensive biographies, but some brief highlights are:

• Eric Gunnison and Mark Simon both toured with Carmen McRae. Eric has played with Roberta Gambarini, Rene Marie, Chris Potter, Christian McBride… while Mark Simon has played with Ron Miles, Fred Hess, and Dale Bruning.
• Harold Summey toured with Sonny Rollins, and has played with Clark Terry, Wynton Marsalis, Gunther Schuller, Ray Charles, and Whitney Houston.
• Brad Goode, the “lyrical genius of the trumpet”, has played alongside Curtis Fuller, Von Freeman, Ira Sullivan and Sheila Jordan, Red Rodney, Rosemary Clooney, to name a few.
