Following her sold out December performance of "Gershwin by Moonlight," vocalist Leigh Holman returns to Full Cycle Café & Bar with a change of pace: 'Birds Do It,' a sultry and sassy take on the Great American Songbook. Expect classic standards, "should-be-included" tunes, and a splash of cocktail culture that'll have you ordering another round.
The Leigh Holman all-star Quintet will be taking you through American music, from the iconic melodies of the "daddy" of the Great American Songbook to hidden gems that leave you shaken and stirred. Leigh Holman (singer and band leader) is a seasoned vocalist deeply rooted in the standards, bringing a wealth of experience to the stage. Her impressive career has included acclaimed performances in opera and music theater as a vocalist and stage director throughout the United States and Europe. Come ready to swoon, sigh, and enjoy an evening of expertly mixed moods with a touch of playful mischief. Brad Goode (trumpet) is a true force in the jazz world. Goode has toured and recorded with an impressive roster of legends, including Von Freeman, Red Rodney, and Eddie Harris. Goode has graced the stage at major jazz festivals worldwide and his unique improvisational style and captivating stage presence make him a standout performer.
Keith Waters (pianist) is a renowned jazz pianist and Professor of Music Theory. His prestigious book, The Studio Recordings of the Miles Davis Quintet 1965-68, was published by Oxford University Press in 2011 to many accolades and awards. As a jazz pianist, he has performed with James Moody, Eddie Harris, Bobby Hutcherson, Sheila Jordan, and Chris Connor, and has recorded and performed throughout the United States, Europe and Russia. His most recent recording is Carolina Tracks (2012).
Jill Fredericksen (drums) A driving force in the Denver jazz scene, Fredericksen has performed with countless local and national artists. Her sensitive accompaniment and rhythmic mastery have made her a first-call drummer for a wide range of musical styles.
Ron Bland (bassist) a professional musician for over forty years, has performed with jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Eddie Daniels, Billy Taylor, Doc Severinson, Earth Wind and Fire, Yes, Andrea Bocelli, Pavarotti, Marvin Hamlisch, Linda Ronstadt, Rosemary Clooney, Billy Crystal and many others.
