JAZZ SUPPER CLUB SERIES | The MaryLynn Quintet - Strictly Standards

A poster for JAZZ SUPPER CLUB SERIES | The MaryLynn Quintet - Strictly Standards event

MaryLynn Gillaspie is bringing together this group of Colorado’s all-star jazz musicians to create an intimate evening of “Strictly Standards”.  Songs you know and love are interpreted by MaryLynn and some of our most notable Jazz musicians. Ms Gillaspie is one of my favorite jazz singers, period. She was a frequent performer at the Sole Jazz Supper Club and around Colorado for over a decade and every one of her shows was spot on and featured her personal and intelligent style of singing and arrangements that were classic in beauty and modern in her personal styling.

Per MaryLynn, “Let’s cozy up together to delight in the melodic and rhythmic content from the ‘40s - ‘60s and beyond… the palette is broad and engaging. From Ellington to Monk, Porter to Carmichael, the compositions are just begging for interpretation. Our playground! These cats have miles and miles of play-time with this music. I’m honored to be in their midst.”

MaryLynn Gillaspie: as a founder of the internationally renowned and Grammy-nominated Rare Silk, she has shared the stage with many of the great jazz legends like Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, Spiro Gyro, Mel Torme, Branford Marsalis and many more. Rare Silk's touring took them to some of the best venues in the country - The Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Blues Alley in DC, New York Jazz clubs, and Boston Globe Jazz Festival, to name a few. Her experience working within this environment gives MaryLynn a rich history in the Jazz idiom.
