A poster for JAZZ SUPPER CLUB SERIES | The Miguel Espinoza Fusion Duo event

Miguel Espinoza Fusion Duo, world-class musicians Maestro Miguel Espinoza (guitar), and Dianne Betkowski (cello), invite the listener into a rich and colorful symposium of musical traditions. Firm roots in Flamenco, classical, and jazz are woven through with North African rhythms, Latin/Caribbean energy, Celtic whimsy, and Brazilian expressions for a sound that is original, transformative, vibrant, and deeply emotive.

“Miguel Espinoza Fusion is world class global chamber music making that explodes the parameters of style, yet ever remains close to the heart.” — David Balakrishnan, founding violinist/composer of the two time grammy winning Turtle Island Quartet

The Espinoza Fusion Duo’s third album, Living in a Daydream (2022), features extensive collaborations with two-time Grammy winner Howard Levy, and their fourth album, Gabriella, again features the collaborative efforts of Howard Levy, as well as fellow two-time Grammy winner David Balakrishnan, of the Turtle Island Quartet. Their most recent recordings, Camino Desconicido and Elise, feature stunning guest artists, including bassist Kai Eckhardt.

Miguel Espinoza Fusion are the 2019 winners of Denver Westword Magazine's Best of World Music, and their albums, Turtle Dreams, Veneta, and Living in a Daydream, have won Indie Acoustic Project awards. Veneta was ranked #9 of the Top 200 World Music Albums of 2022 and was #11 on the Top 20 2022 NACC World Charts for 16 weeks.

Miguel Espinoza - Described by Guitar Player Magazine as "mesmerizing", has also recorded and performed with Bela Fleck, Kitaro, Tuck and Patti, Rita Moreno, and Ben Vereen, among many others.

Cellist Dianne Betkowski- has performed, toured, and recorded with the St. Louis, Utah, and Honolulu Symphonies. Her compositions have been performed by these orchestras as well as the National Symphony, the Rochester Philharmonic, the Houston Symphony, and others.

"While the group's music seems firmly rooted in jazz tradition, their keen (almost telepathic) sense of interaction, openness to eclectic cultural influences, freedom to innovate, and attention to timbral contrast make it into a gorgeous global chamber music performance emphasizing beauty, elegance and intricacy." —Joe Ross, Roots Music Report
