The Rico Jones Quartet | Herb’s and Vices performs a groove-driven jazz project inspired by the legendary Denver venue Herb’s Hideout, where raw energy and deep musical connections thrived. Led by Rico Jones on saxophone, the band blends soulful improvisation with hard-hitting rhythms, featuring Vlad Girshevich on electric keyboard and left-hand bass, creating a rich, dynamic foundation. Joining him is his son and rhythmic counterpart, Aleks Girshevich on drums, whose intuitive interplay fuels the group’s momentum. Completing the ensemble is jazz legacy heavyweight Marcus Firillo on guitar, bringing a deep harmonic sophistication to the mix. Together, Herb’s and Vices pay homage to the spirit of late-night jam sessions while pushing the music forward with a mix of deep swing, blues, and funk-infused modern jazz.
Rico Jones is an acclaimed saxophonist and composer known for his unique blend of Indigenous Latino heritage and gospel influences, bringing a deep emotional connection to his music.
