Due to high winds and fire danger, transmitters are operating at reduced power and reception may be affected through the weekend. Thank you for your understanding and support! You can listen online and on the KUVO app.
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
Bring in the New Year with a wonderful evening with the Rico Jones Quintet, featuring delicious food and drink paired with one of New York’s best Tenor Saxophonists, composers, and some of the greatest musicians in Colorado…neh, the country! The concert will feature all new original music for Rico’s next album project on the Giant Step Arts Label. It’s the follow up to his latest album “BloodLines”. The working title is “Bearer of the Awakening," a suite of music that together forms a poem.
Per Rico Jones, “This concert comes at a meaningful time. My debut record, BloodLines, released on Giant Step Arts, has been making waves internationally, receiving praise in Jazz Life (Japan), Paris Move (France), and a four-star review in DownBeat Magazine. I was recently featured on DownBeat’s Best Albums of 2025 list. It is a great honor to be included alongside heavyweights like B B King, Pharaoh Sanders, Horace Silver, Christian McBride, and Brad Mehldau.”
The album has been reviewed in over ten countries to date, with particularly notable write-ups in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, and Japan. In France, Paris Move declared the album “indispensable” and framed it as a deeply personal body of work. In Germany, Jazz Fun praised its thematic focus and modern intensity, while Jazz Podium lauded its emotional openness and structural depth. Distinguished award-winning Jazz critic, President of The Jazz Journalists Association, and commentator on NPR, Howard Mandel’s review of BloodLines speaks to its spiritual urgency, compositional strength, and artistic clarity.
Come join us for Rico Jone’s only concert this season in Colorado with his all-star Jazz Quintet. It will be stellar!
