Gift of Jazz's NextUp series is considered "current events in Jazz." Still Life is a contemporary chamber jazz ensemble based in Denver, Colorado.
Led by award-winning composer and trumpeter Micah Miller and featuring some of Northern Colorado’s most dynamic and creative young musicians, the group draws inspiration from a wide range of figures in modern music, including Duke Ellington, Aaron Copland, Ambrose Akinmusire, Kenny Wheeler, Walter Smith IlI, Shai Maestro, Brian Blade, and Ron Miles. The music style & feel of Still Life is tasteful, minimalist, harmonious, introspective, pure tone, composed, chamber-like, and spacious.
