RedHorn

RedHorn is a jazz quintet that is a bit schizophrenic. On one hand, they love to pay homage to the legends of Blue Note Records (the "Motown" of jazz) focusing on tunes from the early 60’s, featuring cool horn harmonies and rich chords.

But they also love more modern jazz compositions made popular by players like John Scofield, Bill Frizell, and Medeski, Martin, and Wood.

The band features Chris Hansen on trumpet and keys, Neil Kolwey on saxophone, Tom Leifer on guitar, Matt Powelson on bass, and Bret Mann on drums.

Many of them have been local fixtures in Boulder's music scene for years, and have played with the likes of local jazz legend Art Lande, toured Europe with bass guitar virtuoso Dean Peer, and have even opened for "his high-ness" Snoop Dogg in Vail, CO.
