Rekha Ohal Tribute to Yacht Rock

Join the Rekha Ohal Quartet as we explore the best of yacht rock, that R&B and jazz-influenced pop spiral of music made popular in the 70s and 80s, but for many of us, it is simply the music of our childhood.

Named by an online comedy series in 2005, the term encompasses a certain subset of pop which includes Toto, Hall and Oates, Cristopher Cross, and most certainly Michael McDonald. Some yacht rock song lists include Steely Dan, but purists consider that band to be the musical ground from which the genre sprang.

To quote local superstar writer Michelle Mercer: "Steely Dan is credited but not blamed for Yacht Rock."
