Laurie D Solo First Fridays
| Ironwood Bar & Grille
We are thrilled to welcome back to the stage a staple of the Colorado music community: the Annie Booth Trio. Annie and her group (Patrick McDevitt on bass and Alejandro Castaño on drums) are an institution at Nocturne; as our first-ever artists-in-residence, it is an honor to continue our partnership heading in celebration of our 10th anniversary month! A trio of Denver locals with a decades-long history of musical collaboration, Annie and her trio have developed a singular, joyful sound presenting original music and creative adaptations of everything from songbook standards to iconic works by the Beatles. This band is not to be missed!
Annie Booth is a versatile and award-winning composer, arranger, and jazz pianist. She has received international recognition for her work as a composer, with awards and grants from Chamber Music America, ASCAP, Downbeat Magazine, and many others. As a bandleader, Booth has released six albums, and her most recent release is her 2023 otherworldly chamber jazz album, Flowers of Evil: The Poetry of Charles Baudelaire Imagined Through Music. Additionally, Booth is a respected jazz educator and appears frequently across North America as a guest artist-educator. She serves on the faculty at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music in the Jazz & Commercial Music Program, teaching jazz composition, arranging, and jazz piano. In 2023, she and business partner Alan Baylock launched Brava Jazz Publishing, the only publishing outlet of its kind dedicated to providing a platform for women composers and arrangers in jazz.
