The Braxton Kahn Trio: the Darker Side of Monk

Register
A poster for The Braxton Kahn Trio: the Darker Side of Monk event

Through his work in the 1950s and 1960s, the eternal Thelonious Monk established himself as one of the great composers of jazz music, crafting more than 70 other tunes full of whimsy, beauty, grit, & darkness. Drummer Braxton Kahn & his trio are thrilled to present both faithful & fresh renditions of off-the-beaten path gems from the Thelonious Monk catalogue.

Braxton Kahn was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, and has studied & performed with many of Colorado's finest musicians, including Art Lande, Brad Goode, & Paul Romaine. While studying music at CU-Boulder, he had the opportunity to perform with Paquito D'Rivera, Dave Douglas, Donald Harrison, & Henry Butler. Since earning his Bachelor's of Music Degree from CU in 2016, Braxton has become a staple in the Denver scene and performed with Tony Monaco, Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews Band), Bobby Floyd & many others.
