We are delighted to welcome saxophonist and bandleader David Bernot back to the Nocturne stage, leading an all-star lineup of local musicians playing a dynamic mix of original music and well-loved standards. David will be joined by John Gunther (saxophone), Eric Gunnison (piano), Domi Edson (bass), and Bobby Wiens (drums).
David Bernot is a jazz woodwind player and composer based in Colorado. Originally from Gilbert, Arizona, he moved to Denver in 2012, where he has since become a versatile performer across a range of musical styles throughout the Front Range. In addition to his freelance work, Bernot regularly travels to perform and present at national conferences, including those hosted by the Jazz Education Network and the North American Saxophone Alliance. Bernot has earned multiple awards for his saxophone performance and compositions, with notable international recognition in 2022 when he won 1st place at the Carinthian International Jazz Saxophone Competition in Austria.
In March 2022, the David Bernot Quintet released its debut album, Never-Ending Cycle, in partnership with Nocturne Productions. The album features all original compositions by Bernot. In 2023, the Quintet performed at the Five Points Jazz Festival in Denver, Colorado. The ensemble, which always features top-tier Colorado musicians, blends contemporary sounds with traditional jazz, performing both original works and pieces from the jazz canon.
