Thank you to those who supported KUVO JAZZ on Colorado Gives Day!
Due to high winds and fire danger, transmitters are operating at reduced power and reception may be affected through the weekend. Thank you for your understanding and support! You can listen online and on the KUVO app.
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
Curated by bassist Seth Lewis, this funky night of music features a collection of Denver's finest jazz musicians performing the deeply groovy works of New Orleans' iconic band, The Meters.
The Meters were - and will always be - the quintessential New Orleans funk band. Led by keyboardist Art Neville, The Meters' sound was down-home and earthy. Most of their recordings were instrumentals, putting the emphasis on organic grooves and complex rhythms. The syncopated, layered percussion intertwined with the gritty grooves of the guitar and organ, created a distinctive and unmistakable sound that has been coveted by musicians and fans for nearly 50 years.
