Thank you to those who supported KUVO JAZZ on Colorado Gives Day!
Due to high winds and fire danger, transmitters are operating at reduced power and reception may be affected through the weekend. Thank you for your understanding and support! You can listen online and on the KUVO app.
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
We are thrilled to welcome back to the Nocturne stage a Denver favorite, pianist and composer Jack Dunlevie and his Quintet, as they present a curated original music series. Inspired by legendary composers of the American Songbook, such as Jimmy Van Heusen, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, and Jerome Kern, Jack has delved into the fertile and deceptively challenging craft of the American Standard. Though no stranger to songwriting and having made a career in the study and performance of Standards, this project- setting out to write a body of work in the idiom of the American Songbook- is a marriage of separate worlds for him. Working within these parameters, Jack has developed an original book of songs that promises a fresh take on familiar territory. Jack will be joined by a prodigious lineup of local musicians: Daryl Gott (alto saxophone), Adam Gang (tenor saxophone), Seth Lewis (bass), and Braxton Kahn (drums).
Jack Dunlevie is a Denver pianist, mandolinist, vocalist, and composer. He graduated from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver in 2015, winning composition and recital performance awards. Performing full-time around Colorado and touring nationally, Jack plays Jazz, classical, Salsa, and Bluegrass with various bands, both as a sideman and a leader.
