A poster for The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra with Guest Vocalist Nnenna Freelon event
“Hypnotic, expressive, and sultry, Freelon delivered an uplifting and spiritual concert, reaffirming herself as one of the most exciting jazz singers of our time.” – The Houston Chronicle

Nnenna Freelon joins the Count Basie Orchestra for an evening featuring favorites from the Great American Songbook and to pay tribute to her jazz inspiration, Count Basie. Nnenna Freelon is a GRAMMY-nominated jazz vocalist, as well as a writer, composer, and producer. The Count Basie Orchestra is celebrating its 90th Anniversary and continues the excellent history started by Basie of stomping and shouting the blues, as well as refining those musical particulars that allow for the deepest and most moving of swing.

This performance is a part of Gerald Albright’s Lone Tree Sessions series. One of the biggest stars of R&B, contemporary, and straight-ahead jazz, saxophonist – and Colorado resident – Gerald Albright has earned his reputation as a “musician’s musician.” Albright serves as artistic director of Lone Tree Sessions and curates legendary and emerging artists in jazz, R&B, and blues for intimate performances in the South Metro area.
