Broadcast Outage: We're investigating a broadcast transmission failure and are working to resolve this issue. In the meantime, you can listen online here or on the KUVO app.
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
In its premiere performance at Nocturne, the Hennessy Six presents an evening of original jazz that blends lyrical melody, rich harmony, and dynamic interplay. Drawing inspiration from the atmospheric and emotive style of Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band, the Hennessy 6 will explore themes of resilience, introspection, and the fleeting beauty of life. With a focus on storytelling through music, each piece takes the audience on a journey, offering a fresh yet timeless perspective on the art of jazz.
Featuring Sean Schafer Hennessy (trumpet, flugelhorn), John Dawson (saxophones), Collin McAllister (guitar), Adam Ohlson (piano), Jason Crowe (bass), and Harold Summey (drums).
The Hennessy Six brings a deeply emotive and storytelling-driven voice to the jazz stage. Known for their intricate compositions and dynamic interplay, the group blends rich harmonies and heartfelt improvisation to craft music that resonates with both the heart and soul. Collectively, the band's members have shared the stage with legendary artists such as Dave Liebman, Maria Schneider, Ernie Watts, John Faddis, Wycliffe Gordon, Vince Gill, and others.
