Enjoy an evening of powerful performances spanning beloved classics from composers like Rossini and Copland to powerful spirituals, all honoring the passion and artistry that define opera at its finest. The concert will begin with a performance by soprano Hallie Schmidt and pianist John Morefield of Jake Heggie & Terrence McNally’s one-scene comic opera, At the Statue of Venus, which was commissioned for the opening of the Ellie in 2005.
