The youngest of Philadelphia’s musical Heath Brothers, drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath has shared the stage and recording studio with John Coltrane, Don Cherry, Dexter Gordon, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, the Modern Jazz Quartet, J.J. Johnson, Yusef Lateef, Sonny Rollins, Bobby Timmons, Lester Young, Cedar Walton and Ben Webster.  With the middle brother, saxophonist and composer Jimmy, Tootie performs with the Heath Brothers Quartet.  Tootie’s Tempo, Mr. Heath’s most recent album, teams the veteran Jazzman with younger heavies: pianist Ethan Iverson (of Bad Plus fame) and ringer NY bassist Ben Street.  The trio performs at Dazzle Restaurant & Lounge on Wednesday and Thursday, July 9th and 10th.  Tootie himself will drop in on Susan Gatschet Reese during the one o’clock hour of Wednesday’s edition of “Take Note”!  We’re pretty excited!
