Live at KUVO: Ron Jolly Trio | Feb. 19

The Ron Jolly Trio will perform live in the KUVO studio February 19 at 4 pm MST!

Denver native Ron Jolly – a pianist and entertainer – received a bachelors in Music Education from the University of Denver. Since 1987, Jolly has been teaching music, digital film production and audio engineering in Denver Public Schools.

Ron has performed with many well-known musicians and groups including James Taylor, Michael McDonald, David Crosby, Tim & Mollie O’Brien, Sarah McLachlan, Joan Osborne, Rosanne Cash, David Sanford and The Pittsburgh Collective, Hugh Ragin, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Gatemouth Brown, Pete Olstadt and Eddie Harris.

The Ron Jolly Trio recently released The Friend Suite, an album dedicated to friendship that memorializes some of Jolly’s closest friends while showcasing a variety of jazz styles.

The trio – featuring Ron Jolly on piano, Ron Bland on bass and Don Newby on drums – have been jamming together for the last 35 years.

“We know each other musically, in such a way that many of our actions while playing are intuitive and in the moment. We rehearsed a few times. We discussed the overall feel and some of the kicks, but otherwise my goal was to create and capture the music in one of my favorite settings, the piano, bass and drums trio. They just knew what to do!” said Jolly in an interview with the Denver Musicians Association.
