We close out another  April Jazz Appreciation Month by featuring a project by 6 of the Front Range’s finest musicians, it’s The Montgomery Herman Quinlan Sextet’s Hear, Here on Summit Records. In addition to the front line of horns, Bob-trumpet, Al-trombone, and Josh-sax, you’ll hear Dave Hanson-piano, Ken Walker-bass, and Todd Reid, a most formidable rhythm section.

For his latest recording pianist Kevin Hays recruited harmonica player Gregorie Maret who adds his brand of seasoning on a New Day for the Sunnyside label. Trombonist Bob McChesney releases Chez Sez with a solid line up of accompanists that feature B-3 player-pianist Larry Goldings and Bob Mintzer on sax among others.

Other new releases debuting include a swingin’ young vocalist from the San Francisco Bay Area, Frankye Kelly,  from Vancouver, British Columbia, saxophonist Cory Weeds,  tenor saxist Grant Stewart piano-less trio CD and we’ll also share a few others along with the 2 Listeners Picks choices for JAM-Day 27.

You can join in on the fun starting at Noon, MTN time on Lunchtime at the Oasis.
