This Monday, December 7, we close out another year of New Music Monday with our 17th Annual Holiday Music Edition. After a brief hiatus, New Music Monday returns on January 11, 2021
This week’s highlights include:
The 3D Jazz Trio: “Christmas in 3D” – Drummer Sherrie Maricle is the founder and leader of the all-female groups, the Diva Jazz Orchestra, the Firehouse Five and the 3D Jazz Trio. After years of wanting to make Christmas music Sherrie records her first Christmas album and chose to do it with her 3D Jazz Trio featuring some up tempo versions of Christmas classics and some obscure songs as well, all guaranteed to provide some Christmas cheer.
Multi-instrumentalist and esteemed educator Warren Wolf became well known as a member of Christian McBride and Aurora’s own Tia Fuller groups as both a drummer and vibraphonist. Growing up in Baltimore, Warren loved the holiday season so he saw fit to record his first Christmas music album, “Christmas Vibes” on which he plays several instruments and is joined by a few of his past students as well. Even in this bizarre year this release will bring joy to the world!
Brian Bromberg has a reputation for being one of the most innovative bass players of all the music world, he plays 6 different types of bass-both acoustic and electric. His “Celebrate Me Home: The Holiday Sessions” was inspired by the need for isolation during 2020 and yet still have the yearning to be with family, loved ones and friends to celebrate the holidays.
Every Monday beginning at Noon, I debut the latest arrivals to KUVO Jazz, often ahead of their regularly scheduled release date. In addition to the music, I’ll provide a few tidbits about the artist in particular if it’s a new or up and coming artist.
