Artist Spotlight: DAES

As a radio personality for more than 20 years in Denver, Paul’s radio career includes work with major market stations in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Dallas

The Denver group DAES stopped by to chat about their upcoming show at Two Moons Music Hall on Sunday, June 8, at 5 pm. It's a presentation of Gift of Jazz's NextUp Series.

DAES, pronounced 'daze', is comprised of students from Denver School of the Arts and North High School. The members are Elias Earl (vibes), Scarlett Before Horses (keys), Aesop Pelta-Tiller (bass), Elijah Holmes (drums/keys/bass). DAES drummer Declan Scully was out of town for the chat, but will be at the show Sunday.

Their music blends modern jazz with hip hop and is mostly original material, but they also love doing classic tunes from their favorites, like Thelonious Monk.
