Artist Spotlight: Dmitri Matheny & Keith Oxman
Lyrical flugelhornist Dmitri Matheny and Denver saxophonist Keith Oxman sat down with Andy O' for KUVO Evening Jazz on September 23, at 4 p.m. to talk about their upcoming show at Dazzle.
Matheny and friends will showcase jazz renditions of familiar favorites from An Affair To Remember, Blade Runner, Casablanca, Chinatown, Taxi Driver, The Godfather, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Mo Better Blues, Young Frankenstein, Star Wars, Barbie, and more.
American flugelhornist Dmitri Matheny has been lauded as “one of the most emotionally expressive improvisers of his generation” (International Review of Music). An honors graduate of Berklee College of Music, Dmitri Matheny vaulted onto the jazz scene in the 1990s as the protégé of jazz legend Art Farmer. Since then he has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal international following, releasing twelve CDs and touring extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. The San Francisco Chronicle calls Matheny “one of the jazz world’s most talented horn players.”
Dmitri and his all-star band present an evening of timeless classics from the shared history of jazz and cinema, live at Dazzle, Thursday, September 25 at 7 pm.
