Gabriel of Saturday Jazz

For more than three decades, a woman simply named “Gabriel” has hosted Saturday Jazz (12 – 2 p.m.) on KUVO.

On this edition of Behind the Mic, Gabriel shares her KUVO story (beginning on overnights, of course), her early passion for jazz, and her broadcasting start at Henry Ford High School in Detroit.

She’s served KUVO as a volunteer in several capacities: fundraising, on the board of directors, and as an on-air host.

Gabriel shared some of her stories from her musical family (her cousin is the world-famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band's clarinetist, Charlie Gabriel).

And check out the back story of her weekly feature, “Sarah Vaughan Time.”
