Community Connection: Jimmy Hutto on InnovAge

Jimmy Hutto and his mother Lois

Jimmy Hutto joined me today, Friday, November 21, for Community Connection and told his story about what it's been like to care for his mother, Lois, who is 90 years young. Jimmy said he wasn't planning on becoming his mother's caregiver — it just happened. He moved her to Colorado about 10 years ago after his father and brother died, and he had to learn how to live with his mom after 40+ years.

Jimmy shared he learned about InnovAge's Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) during a meeting at church. The program provides older individuals with a team of healthcare professionals focused on providing all the connected care they need, and Lois is now a participant in the program. Jimmy told me he's so happy that Lois can stay in her home and not worry about going to a nursing home. This way, his kids and grandkids can come and visit her whenever they like. He hopes sharing his story will help others who are going through the same thing as him and need help caring for their elderly parents.
