Playwright Jeff Campbell and Blueswoman Eric Brown

Denver playwright Jeff Campbell considers his latest production, "Jedidiah Blackstone: Oringin Story of an Alter-Ego & the Untold Tales from the Darkside of the Wets," an entry into cowboy poet culture and his most personal story yet.

In this modern musical (with original tracks that visit country and hip-hop), Campbell takes on the identity of traveling poet and storyteller “Jedidiah Blackstone” to convey stories of black folks in the West that go way back.

Denver blueswoman Erica Brown, a veteran of Campbell’s earlier plays, plays the historic Clara Brown in this show, and she sits in on the conversation at KUVO. The Emancipation Theater Company production is staged at 3801 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, on the campus of the Clayton Early Learning Center, September 25 to October 5.
