Vinyl Vault: Dry Jack, “Magical Elements”

Dry Jack, "Magical Elements" released on Inner City Records, 1979

This week on the Vinyl Vault, we’ll hear an album from a band named Dry Jack and their album “Natural Elements.” The album was released in 1979 on the Inner City record label.

The band included Chuck Lamb on acoustic piano, Fender Rhodes piano, clavinet and Mini-Moog; Rich Lamb on electric bass, Rod Fleeman on electric guitar and John Margolis on drums and percussion. Chuck Lamb, who spent some time in Colorado, was the primary composer.

Besides “Magical Elements,” the band released one other album, “Whale City,” also in 1979 and also on Inner City Records. Dry Jack was primarily a jazz-fusion band in the mold of Larry Coryell’s Eleventh House and Return to Forever.

Check out Dry Jack on the next Vinyl Vault with Geoff Anderson, this Tuesday, February 17, at 8:30 p.m. on KUVO JAZZ.
