Vinyl Vault: Squash, "And Now It's Here"
This week on the Vinyl Vault, we’ll feature a 1981 album from the Southern California band Squash entitled "And Now It’s Here.” The album was released on the Stasima Records label. The album was a self-produced affair when the band was unable to land a deal with a major record label during the economic downturn in the early ‘80s.
The music is an early ‘80s brand of jazz/rock fusion, primarily instrumental. One vocal track is based on an episode of the original Star Trek television series about furry, seemingly harmless creatures known as Tribbles. Unfortunately for the crew of the Enterprise, those cute little critters were exceedingly adept at reproduction.
Hear the story of the Tribbles along with other tales this Tuesday, December 16, at 8:30 p.m. on the Vinyl Vault with host Geoff Anderson, only on KUVO JAZZ.
