Vinyl Vault: The Blues Side of Little Feat

Geoff Anderson has been a KUVO JAZZ volunteer since 1988
Little Feat Albums

This week on the Vinyl Vault, we’ll take a look at the blues side of Little Feat. Lowell George started the band Little Feat in 1969 after leaving Frank Zappa’s band. The band is still in existence, although with Bill Payne, keyboardist and vocalist, as the only original member. From the beginning, the band drew from a wide array of influences including rock, jazz, country, funk, fusion, soul, R&B, New Orleans, Cajun and, of course, the blues.

Lowell George was a big fan of Howlin’ Wolf, a/k/a Chester Burnett and the first Little Feat album featured a medley of two Howlin’ Wolf songs which we’ll hear Tuesday night. Also featured will be a Leiber and Stoller tune, a song about Chairman Mao and a fusion tune for some variety.

Check out the blues side of Little Feat on the Vinyl Vault with host Geoff Anderson, this Tuesday, March 17, at 8:30 p.m. only on KUVO JAZZ.
