In celebration and honor of Women’s History Month, we celebrate Nicole Mattson.
“KUVO has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in the Denver area, it was always our source for listening to jazz on the radio. Kudos to KUVO for all they bring to our Denver community.”
Nicole Mattson is the co-founder and owner of Nocturne Jazz and Supper Club, celebrating its seven years since the opening of the RiNo jazz club this month. Nicole is a Denver native with an undergrad degree in hospitality and an MBA from the University of Denver. She formerly helped open award-winning luxury hotels in Vail and directed teams of revenue managers at Sage Hospitality. Now she’s proud to be wearing the many hats of an entrepreneur, including her role as full-time “restaurant Mom” to the Nocturne team. Nocturne has been voted by Westword magazine readers as the “Best Jazz Club in Denver” for 5 years in a row and continues to host local Denver jazz musicians Wednesday through Sunday every week.
In addition to her time spent at Nocturne, Nicole is part of the ownership team at Noble Riot, a wine bar located next door to Nocturne. Noble Riot was recently listed as one of the Best Bars in America by Esquire Magazine. Nicole is also a professional faculty member at the University Denver, teaching Restaurant Concept Development for the hospitality undergraduates each spring. She’s previously served on the board of directors for the Colorado Women’s Wine Guild and the Mile High Chapter of the Colorado Restaurant Association. She resides in Denver and if she’s not at work, she’s frequently out hiking, skiing, and enjoying the Rocky Mountains.
