On Saturday, June 26, at 10 pm and Monday, June 28, at 7 pm, KUVO’s performance series “On Stage” features one of Denver’s all-time favorite jazz & blues singers, James Van Buren & The Group!

We’ve got two versions of The Group. In 2005, James was accompanied at KUVO by Bruce Naylor on guitar, Andy Weyl on piano, Mark Diamond on bass, and Chris Lee on drums. At an October 2006 broadcast, his sidemen were Dave Corbus on guitar, Eric Gunnison on piano, Mark Simon on bass, and Kevin Smith on drums.

James Van Buren, born in Arrow Rock, Missouri, made an indelible impression on his audiences in Kansas City, and when he moved to Denver. He formed his own music label and was an avid supporter of public radio. The love was mutual and his presence is missed to this day.

Enjoy these soulful, good rockin’ sessions with the one-of-a-kind, James Van Buren, as they were produced LIVE in KUVO’s Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio.

That’s with host Susan Gatschet on Saturday nights at 10, and now on the following Mondays, at 7 pm, for an “On Stage” encore!  A KUVO JAZZ exclusive!
