Denver saxophonist Clare Church has been playing professionally for 30 years. Her first gig was with Tony Bennett, and since that memorable night, she has worked with the bands of Joe Henderson, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Carter, Nancy Wilson, Mel Torme, and George Shearing, among others, as well as being a regular with the Colorado Symphony and the Boulder Philharmonic. She is also a member of Art Lande’s inimitable Boy/Girl Band, the Lewis/Church Quintet, the Colorado Sax Quartet, the Baker/Mulligan Tribute Band, and is co-leader of the modern jazz group, Polarity.

Clare has a condition called dystonia which has affected her embouchure. She presently cannot play her saxophones and woodwinds. Up to 18 months ago, Clare was touring with Doc Severinsen, playing with the Colorado Symphony, performing with Art Lande, playing shows etc.

On Sunday, May 4 a benefit is being held to assist Clare in raising funds that will allow her to see a medical specialist in Spain. This jazz jam is from 4-7pm at the Elks Club in Louisville, CO.  The events page for the fundraiser is here.
