Greg Wahl | KUVO 30 Under 30

An alumnus of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, saxophonist Greg Wahl is currently a jazz studies and computer science double major at the University of Colorado Boulder. 

“When I was about 9 or 10, my parents got this rental saxophone for me,” Greg said. “I remember putting it together and just being amazed at all the buttons and the mechanics of it.”

Greg possesses a traditional, swinging style, which has gained him comparison to Dexter Gordon. 

“I like to focus on constructing melodies that are interesting,” Greg said. 

No stranger to KUVO, Wahl performed with 15-time Grammy Award winner Paquito D’Rivera in the Phyllis A Greer Performance studio earlier this year. 

To celebrate 30 years on the air and invest in the future of jazz, KUVO interviewed 30 local musicians under the age of 30. These features will be released on-air and online June 29-October 31.
