The Front Range of Colorado is home to numerous musicians of the highest caliber playing just about every style of music under the sun. We are particularly fortunate to have numerous gifted jazz musicians including no shortage of amazing trumpet players. One of the best players is Jason Klobnak, a versatile trumpeter, author of 2 books about improvisation, and an adjunct professor at Arapahoe Community College of Littleton. Mr. Klobnak earned his bachelor’s degree at Drake University in Des Moines, IA and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music of the Mile High City. The Jason Klobnak Quartet’s previous 2 recordings received considerable airplay at jazz outlets across the USA and in Europe. moreover, they garnered outstanding reviews and high praises from jazz writers throughout Jazz Land.
For their third recording session, Jason decided to write songs for his friends and family whom he lovingly refers to as his tribe. The Jason Klobnak Quartet’s latest entry into their discography is Friends & Family, a joyous, swingin’ outing chock full of finger snapping and foot tapping delights. All 11 of the tracks are based on his standing with relatives, acquaintances and life events. You can get the details of each one of the musical stories by logging on to Jason’s home page. Jason is accompanied by Jeff Jenkins-Hammond B3, Kevin Matthews-drums, and Eric Erhardt-tenor sax. This latest CD by the JKQ is already receiving rave reviews by writers and rapidly moving up the charts of radio airplay on the prestigious Jazz Week reports that publishes the top 50 most played recordings every week.
