The Night Beat with Geoff Anderson

Tuesdays, 8pm to 10PM

Being a music junkie and working in radio during the '70s resulted in host Geoff Anderson amassing an extensive record collection that he has kept intact to this day.

During his weekly feature - "The Vinyl Vault," on-air every Tuesday at 8:30 PM - Geoff shares a record from his collection that isn't in the KUVO library.

Geoff Anderson hosts The Night Beat with Geoff Anderson, which includes a segment called the Vinyl Vault where Geoff takes a record for a spin.

I’ve been listening to, buying and collecting records for well over 50 years. For much of their existence, records were by far the highest quality audio source available with tape was its main competitor.

This week’s Vinyl Vault features the album “Harvest” from the band Matrix. This 1981 album features plenty of brass on top of a fusion-oriented rhythm section. It was a rare, but tasty departure for the usually straight ahead oriented Pablo Today record label. Dig the Vinyl Vault tonight at 8:30 on KUVO/KVJZ.

Jean Luc Ponty

Feb 18, 2014

Wow, Tuesdays come around fast! And that's a good thing because it's time for the Vinyl Vault with Geoff Anderson.

This week’s Vinyl Vault features French violinist Jean Luc Ponty and his 1989 album on Columbia, “Storytelling.” The album features intricate time signatures, virtuoso playing all around and soaring melodies.

The Vinyl Vault, tonight at 8:30 on KUVO, 89.3 and kuvo.org.
