R&B Jukebox

Saturdays, 6pm to 8pm

Every week we revisit the Golden Era of Rhythm & Blues, from the early 1940's through the late 1960's. Jump Blues, Vocal Groups, early Rock n' Roll, Doo Wop, New Orleans R&B, Soul, even some big band, swing, and gospel, it's all on board what has been nicknamed "The quickest two hours on radio."

Join hosts Easy Bill and Rolando Garcia on Saturday night, August 4 from 6-8pm as they celebrate 20 years of the R&B Jukebox! They’ll be spinning some of the iconic hits as well as their personal favorites, and will be sharing the history and memories of the show from the past two decades.

Whether you’ve been listening since 1998 or just recently discovered The Jukebox, tune in to celebrate this radio milestone this Saturday night from 6-8pm on KUVO Jazz.

Pete Simon

What does a place in Memphis with a name like “Ernestine and Hazel’s” have to do with the history of the Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll, and Soul Music?

To learn more, join us this Saturday for R&B Jukebox with guest host Pete Simon, who recently returned from a trip to Memphis where he heard an earful about the legendary goings-on at “Ernestine’s” through the decades.

Pete also attended the grand opening of the Blues Hall of Fame, and was (as he says) “finally” able to tour the Stax Museum of Soul Music.

Mardi Gras is just around the corner which means it's time for the annual R&B Jukebox New Orleans/Mardi Gras Show!

Every year on the Saturday before Fat Tuesday, the R&B Jukebox celebrates the incredible, danceable, poly-ryhthmic, good-time music that personifies the people, food, and culture that is unique to New Orleans.

Artists include Fats Domino, The Spiders, Allen Toussaint, Professor Longhair, Huey "Piano" Smith, Earl King, Paul Gayten, and Lee Allen, just to name a few.
