Arturo was the Music Director at KUVO JAZZ from 2003 until 2024. In 2025 Gómez was named the “Cultural Ambassador” of KUVO JAZZ, he also continues as a music consultant for special projects, birthdays, obituaries and Jazz Appreciation Month. Before that, Arturo was the Music Director of Miami’s jazz station for 14 years. When he was 13, his family moved from the Bron to Pasadena where he became an ardent fan of the progressive radio stations of Los Angeles, instilling in him a love and knowledge of many music styles while his parents hosted many a Cuban music dance party at home during his formative years.

An award-winning Music Director, Arturo Gómez has been awarded Music Director of the Year on six occasions and has also been the recipient of the prestigious Duke Dubois Lifetime Achievement, Bobby Jackson Jazz Ambassador honors and most recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Broadcasting. He has also received Letters of Commendation from the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE), the House of Representatives, and the UNESCO International Jazz Day. Arturo brings an enthusiastic and passionate approach to the airwaves and to streaming audiences. Arturo has represented KUVO JAZZ for 21 years as one of the organizers of the now defunct Five Points Jazz Festival, he’s currently a member of the Denver Five Points Business Improvement District, Denver Arts and Venues, and other community organizations.

Arturo proudly states, “Jazz is my favorite four-letter word and the world’s greatest art form.”
