Kai has been playing music on the radio in Colorado since the early nineteen ninety’s. After finishing college at Colorado State University, Kai continued his work in Public radio until he was invited to bring his blues show to one of the largest FM commercial stations in Denver.

His show, Strictly Blues aired from 1996 until the end of 2022 where it was also syndicated in Northern Colorado. During that time, Kai has been the recipient of awards such as The Best Of Westword (2000), 5280 Top Radio Personality in the annual Top Of The Town (2004), The Keeping The Blues Alive Award from The Blues Foundation in Memphis (2009) and is a Nine-time recipient of the Colorado Blues Society’s Member’s Choice Award (Holley Awards) for Best Blues Show and Blast Blues Radio Host since they began in 2013.

He has also been acknowledged by The Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News.

Kai has helped launch the careers of 100’s of blues artists and is the co-founder of festivals such as Blues From The Top (since 2003), Blues And Bones Festival (1997-2002), and The Mile High Blues Festival (2008-10) which has helped facilitate countless once in a lifetime music experiences for 1000’s of music fans.

Kai loves learning about music and continuously looks to broaden his horizons while advocating for the role his favorite genre has played in history and its future relevance. He jumped (and maybe jived and wailed) when offered the opportunity to join the crew with Ricky Mosely and Rolando Garcia who have helmed what he has always felt to be one of the best shows on the radio, “The R&B Jukebox” for decades on KUVO JAZZ. Easy Bill has left some big shoes to fill and Kai is looking forward to sharing his passion for blues-influenced music and telling the story of how the Golden Age of Rhythm & Blues set the stage for everything we know.
