Mona Lisa, a recipient of a scholarship award from the Broadcasters Association while studying radio and television broadcasting, came to KUVO JAZZ as an intern working under the direction of Carlos Lando and The Morning Beat in 2008. After graduating in 2009, she was hired as a development assistant, when the opportunity to co-host Canción Mexicana became available.

“I am extremely honored to be given the opportunity to co-host Canción Mexicana. Mexican music runs through my veins, being 3rd generation Mexican/Spanish American. I grew up with my older brother on guitar, my younger brother on drums, Dad would play the accordion and my mother, sister and I would sing Corridos, Rancheras, and Cumbias. What memories I have of those days. I get to re-live those times on alternate Sundays from 9 am – 1 pm when I host Canción Mexicana. I enjoy every minute of it.” —Mona Lisa
