The KUVO Studio Club welcomes East High School’s “6th Hour Jazz Combo” on Tuesday, February 12 at 7 pm to the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio. The 6th Hour Jazz Combo is composed of mostly seniors with a few juniors and one sophomore. They started this year by playing the compositions of the jazz greats such as Kenny Dorham, Curtis Fuller, Hank Mobley, and others. They are now playing entirely their own compositions. Every student has written at least one composition so far. We recorded 17 of them for this year’s CD project, due for release in March. The styles covered by these young musicians are quite varied.
