“Pursuance” performs “live” in the Phyllis A. Greer Studio on Friday, January 24 from 2 to 3 pm. Pursuance seeks to find the sweet spots between modern jazz (a la Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ron Miles, Aaron Parks), indie rock, & neo-soul (a la Robert Glasper, Butcher Brown) to create a novel blend of 21st century sounds and styles.

Pursuance aims to create exhilarating sounds & explore the myriad unique textures presented by the members’ original compositions as well as spontaneous takes on jazz repertoire. Anisha Rush (sax), Alex Heffron (guitar), Hunter Roberts (bass), & Braxton Kahn (drums) have developed a deep musical chemistry over the last few years playing in Denver’s scene as in-demand side-persons on the jazz & R&B scene.

Pursuance hopes to communicate grace, joy, & friendship through the lens of compositions that don’t fit neatly into any one box. Their music is a truly fresh approach to improvisational music.
